The History of Windsor, Colorado
Windsor resides in Weld and Larimer County, Colorado. Located along the front range which is now referred to as Northern Colorado. Windsor has a rich history and formally became a town in 1870. The Town of Windsor’s roots lay in agricultural farming of wheat and sugar beets. One of the town’s first commercial establishments was a flour mill, which today is registered on the National Registry of Historic Places. Windsor Colorado plans to be the home of a 122-acre multi-sport and retail complex. After issues with funding seemed to eliminate the project, it has received new support in 2020 and is set to move forward.
The Poudre River Regional Trail received $2 mil in grants and will connect Fort Collins, Timnath, Windsor and Greeley through trails. The trail is set to be finished in 2023.
The Eastman Park River Experience Phase 1 is set to be completed in 2021. The construction will allow for two river access points allowing the public to safely access the water with tubes, kayaks, and canoes.
